Walking 5 Ways to Get Some Exercise Into Your Busy Day
By: Michael A Adams
As people get more and more busy with the tasks of everyday life, they tend to leave out an important aspect in creating a healthy and happy lifestyle for themselves: exercise. Walking is probably the simplest form of exercise you can do to start burning calories in order to feel better about yourself and improve your health. Here are five ways to fit walking into your busy schedule:
Park Further Away
When you go shopping with your family or drive to work, park as far away from the door as possible. Though it might be hard at first to pass up the parking spot by the front door, it will pay off if you do so every day. Parking just ten minutes away from your office door gives you a solid twenty minutes of exercise that you might not have gotten otherwise, for a total of 100 minutes per week.
Find a Walking Buddy
If motivation is what is holding you up, find someone to walk with during your lunch break. This will benefit your friend as well, and entice both of you to push each other out the door. As you see the benefits of exercise, in terms of a firmer body and losing weight, you and your walking buddy will look forward to this time together.
Grocery Shopping?Take Some Laps
Walking the perimeter of the grocery store will be a good workout. Although this may take longer than running in for what you need, it will be beneficial to you and your family in the long run. Try this on a rainy day when you can?t walk outside ? but don?t stop to talk with friends! You might already be doing this when your son or daughter runs off because they found a snack they wanted. After you walk, make some healthy food choices from some of the food you?ve been perusing, as the healthier food in the store is placed along the sides of grocery stores.
Walk and Talk While You are on the Phone
Talking on the phone is pretty much an American pastime now. Why not make it an opportunity to get some exercise in at the same time? Instead of sitting on the couch or in a desk chair while talking to your friends and family, get up and walk around the house or office while you?re on the phone. This will surprisingly add up to many miles walked in a day, and you will start shedding the pounds.
Ditch the Car and Walk There
Lots of people live and work in many of America?s great cities, close to amenities they need throughout the day. Instead of hopping into the car to drive two minutes in order to visit a friend, get lunch, or make a delivery, try walking there instead. It will help you burn calories while saving the environment. So, before you grab the keys, think.
Americans need to increase the amount of exercise in their daily lives. Exercise is an integral part of a happy lifestyle, releasing endorphins, which make you feel better, and decreasing the likelihood of illness. By incorporating these tips into your busy lifestyle you will be on your way to a new, healthier body.
